Woke up on Saturday to receive my new PSU, a Hiper Type-R Modular 580w 'Blue Label' PSU to replace the Thermaltake Silent PurePower 680W PSU that just gave up the ghost after about a year. Here a few pics of the new psu:

With AMD having reduced the prices on their processors, I thought I'd treat myself to a few new components. I could have gone the way of the Conroe chips as they are seriously kicking butt in the benchmarks department, but I decided to stick with AMD due to my limited budget.

These are the things that I got:

• A Gigabyte GA-M59SLI-S5 motherboard
• A Zalman CNPS9500 AM2
• An AM2 X2 4400+ CPU
• A Seagate 300GB SATA harddrive
• 2 x 1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2-667 memory chips (had to go a bit low on this one, the DDR2-800 was a bit too steep in price for me)
• 2 x 7600 GS SLI video cards (again budget issues)

Finally got round to building and setting up my Ubuntu box. Took me about 3 hours to have everything ready after replacing the power supply, installing Ubuntu 6.06 and upgrading it to 6.06.1. I am currently using a crappy 15" inch CRT monitor with it, so that will probably be the next thing I upgrade.

Well, people this is my new site design. Took me about 2 days to come up with the design and a few more hours just to use CSS and position several key items. Unfortunately during the process I ended up breaking a few things. I am also considering adding a few things as well.

Lately, I have been playing with Spry - an AJAX framework by Adobe geared towards designers. I am actually very surprised at how quick this is to pick up. I might just end up using it on some pages of the site.
