I have always been more into computers than mobile phones. To me a phone was a just a phone. I simply used it to make phone calls and could not care less whether it could take pictures or play MP3s as all my funds really were going into improving my computer skills. About 3 years ago, I decided to change that habit and got myself a K750i. Best phone I have ever owned. Played music rather well, was adequately loud, the pictures from the camera were pretty good as well. Overall, I certainly had no complaints. I recently decided to get myself a new one. I had two phones in mind. The P1i and the HTC Tytn II. I went for the P1i purely and simply because for the price. Although the HTC Tytn II (also known as The Kaiser) had HSDPA, a faster WiFi and several other features, I could not pay £400+ for a phone. (Yes, I hate contracts and being tied into anything). The P1i cost me about £269 and that was thebest deal I could find at Play.com. Another site I looked at was selling the same phone at £377. What a rip-off!

Being a lover of Ubuntu Linux, I thought I'd try and create a theme for the P1i.

Ubuntu P1i Theme

I really don't understand why some software developers are starting ignore Windows XP 64-Bit users. There are still quite a lot of people including me who are using the OS for one reason or the other. Personally, I have found it to be very stable and at least I am taking advantage of my 4GB RAM system without the need of having to upgrade to Vista. Not ready for that just yet. Like most people, I am waiting for results of the SP1 on Vista to be released first before upgrading.

I have been working on a new P1i Theme. Once again, it's based on Ubuntu. This time, I have used the Hardy Heron wallpapers for this. Some screenshots are shown below:

I have had my P1i for a quite a few months now and I have to say that its a superb phone. I certainly wontbe looking to replace it anytime soon as it takes care of the things that I need it to take care of. I do however have abig problem with it. Every time I restart the phone, I get an install notification for an applicaion that I have uninstalled. Slick in particular was causing me this problem. I bet some P1i users are also having the same issue habd have tried in vain to sort the problem out. Well, the simple sloution to the problem is to navigate to "d:\private\10202dce\". You will see some SIS files listed. Simple delete appropriate one that is causing you problems.
